Waste Management: the Case of Saint Petersburg

The Diploma thesis “Waste management. The Case of Saint Petersburg” is devoted to the study of the current situation in the sector of municipal solid waste in Russia as the aftermath of the Garbage Reform, which started in 2011. This study aims to identify weaknesses in the new waste management system and to put forward suggestions for remedying it. The research methodology includes a review of scientific literature and the legal framework, the empirical methodology encompasses both quantitative and qualitative methods: comparative analysis, system analysis, correlation analysis, content analysis. Based on the results of the examination of the information base and the results of the empirical study, some recommendations for the improvement of the municipal solid waste management in Russia are offered.
