The aim of this work is to show the process of image constructing of the cities during travel across Russia in 1837. A lot of researches have addressed the issue of cities’ preparation for members of royal family arrival. Despite this interest, no one to the best of our knowledge has studied the Alexander’s trip in this context. The scientific work is based on the materials of official letters, personal diaries, traveling notes, government decrees and papers. In this paper we have some conclusions. First of all, we consider the fact of the existence of «Potemkin Villages». Secondly, we found out who were interested in creating the ideal view of the cities and what actions were taken to achieve these goals.
