The management of material and associated flows has always been a significant part of the economic activities of any company. However, such increased attention to this area of business appeared relatively recently, and interest in supply chains appeared even later, only at the beginning of the XXI century. Nevertheless, a couple of decades was enough for the concepts of logistics and SCM to firmly enter the business sphere as an integral part of it, which can provide a significant advantage for the companies in the market. One of the key strategically important tasks for any organization that is explored by the two areas of knowledge mentioned above is a design of enterprise distribution networks. Moreover, based on the review of the literature, it is concluded that the traditional analytical approach to the distribution chain network modeling is limited and often difficult to implement. Moreover, in the light of the digital revolution which takes place in the nowaday world, there is a growing interest of scientists and businessmen in simulation methods of modeling. In connection with the stated facts, the actual subject of research at that moment is the simulation methods of modeling especially the usage of the system dynamics capabilities for the design of distribution networks. In this paper, issues related to the theoretical aspects of distribution logistics and supply chain management are considered, in particular, related to the design of logistics systems for the transportation of goods through modeling methods, followed by the implementation of the knowledge gained to design a distribution network.
