This research is aimed at studying the concept of the autonomy of the art. In my research I study the way that autonomous art was defined by Theodor W. Adorno and Hermann Lubbe. The result of my study will be defining the key contradictions between two authors. In the first chapter I am going to study the concept of the autonomous art of Theodor Adorno, define its main characteristics and the concept of art’s mediation and the extent to which the autonomous work of art is historically and socially mediated. The second chapter is going to be dedicated to the work of Hermann Lubbe, his views on the connection of the processes of aesthetization, depolitization and scientization to the autonomy of art. Also in the second chapter I am going to compare the views of two authors.
