Despite the high demand on female IT talent, tech companies still face a range of issues with regards to recruiting and retaining such employees. The underlying cause for that may be the lack of understanding of what women truly desire in work. We conduct a study of job attribute preferences among female workers in IT on the example of female candidates and current employees of Intel. With an eye to accomplish the goal, we held two events – a closed-type questionnaire between young female prospects in a career-oriented group of the company, and a workshop for existing women employees on-site one of Intel’s offices in Nizhny Novgorod Region. As a result, although preferences of novice and experienced technical specials among women have some similarities, it was established that they might be different in many aspects. When analyzing the organization, we concluded that Intel has already been successfully involved in supporting and attracting female IT talent, while also having some areas of development. Taking into account suggested actionable steps towards improving Intel’s initiatives, suggested during this research, leaders of the company might not only increase satisfaction levels among existing female employees, but make the organization more attractive to external candidates as well.
