Warehouses are present at all stages of the movement of material flows of the logistics chain, and represent irreplaceable storage places for both raw materials and finished products. Warehouse logistics is currently one of the ways to increase the competitive advantage for companies. That is why the proper organization of warehouse activities and warehousing in general requires special attention of the companies. When designing or organizing activities at a warehouse, it is necessary to be guided by the principles of maximizing its effectiveness by modern organization of warehouse processes, in particular the use of the right space-planning solutions, the use of modern technologies and handling equipment in the warehouse. One of the companies for which warehousing is a key activity is Ahlers Rus in St. Petersburg. This paper revealed the weakness of the warehouse activities of Alers Rus, which was subsequently optimized. So, the goal of the thesis is to identify the ways to improve the efficiency of warehouse activities of Ahlers Rus and to develop measures for their application. The main objectives of the thesis are to explore the main problems of logistics warehousing, to consider key aspects of the external and internal design of warehouse facilities and to investigate the work activities of the optimized company Ahlers Rus in St. Petersburg. Moreover, another important task is to identify and describe the existing weakness of the company's warehouse activities and to propose ways to optimize it. To achieve the goals and objectives of the work, the formulas for calculating the parameters of warehouses, modern methods of their design, as well as the adoption of space-planning decisions were applied. Initially, the priority of building a warehouse over the lease of storage capacity was proved by finding a point of indifference and comparing costs when storing cargo on leased areas and on its own, as well as building cost dependency graphs. Then all the main parameters of the warehouse facility were found, the area of which was approximately 6.630 sq. meters. Also, a timeline was compiled in the work, demonstrating the sequence and period of time required for the implementation of the warehouse construction project on the Alers territory in St. Petersburg, based on which it can be concluded that the company will need a little more than two years to go through all the stages of the project. Then, two methods were applied for the selection of the management company to guide the construction process of the new Ahlers Rus warehouse. The rating method and expert method showed one result, according to the results of which the St. Petersburg representative office of the international company CBRE Group is the best management company for the Ahlers Rus construction project.
