This paper looks into the effects of FDI on the micro-level socio economic outcomes. The study uses the Zambian Extractive industry as a reference point. To guide the study, employment, healthcare, education and growth of Small and Medium enterprises have been identified as the key socio-economic outcomes at the micro level. These factors have been discussed with respect to how the FDI in the Zambian mining industry affects them directly. The study has narrowed down to the Chinese FDI in the copper industry.
