Subject of study deals with the effectiveness of violent methods in countering the protests in Ingushetia in 2018-2019. The aim of the study is to analyze the reasons why violence may be the best choice of government to counter political protest activity. Final qualification work consists of introduction, two chapters, conclusion, list of sources used and literature. The first chapter describes the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of protest political movements. The most common approaches to explaining the effectiveness of the use of force by the state in response to the unrest are also identified. The second chapter contains a description of the main criteria of the current political situation, because of which the government can decide to implement a specific strategy to combat demonstrators. In addition, a spectrum of basic typical models of violent influence on the will of participants in a political protest to resist was revealed. The third chapter analyzes the tactics of the authorities in combating the political protest movement using the example of the Republic of Ingushetia in 2018-2019. The work concludes that the approach of the government of this Russian region is ineffective, since excessive use of violence in the future can lead to a new surge of political protests. Based on this, the hypothesis of the study on the high effectiveness of violent instruments exclusively in achieving short-term political stability is confirmed. At the same time, such an approach in the long run leads to an even greater decrease in the stability of the political regime.
