The dying process of a terminally ill person is a complex and controversial phenomenon that has attracted attention worldwide. Euthanasia and palliative care are two concepts at the core of this phenomenon, however, public opinions on these issues are mixed and subject to change depending on a variety of factors (social, economic, etc.). While palliative care was not developed in Russia until recently, the situation has begun to change. At the same time, in the Russian society there are active discussions about the possibility of legalizing euthanasia. Yet, little research has explored whether the attitudes of Russian people towards euthanasia and palliative care differ and whether there is a connection between them. Moreover, few studies have addressed the attitudes towards euthanasia and palliative care of Russian youth – one of the most socially and economically active generations which may largely influence further development in the area of healthcares. The purpose of the current study is to examine factors affecting the attitudes of Russian youth towards euthanasia and palliative care. A quantitative online survey is used as a data collection method. This study may be provide useful insights into the actual young Russians’ attitudes towards euthanasia and palliative care and various factors underlying it. Moreover, it will be clarified whether these attitudes are different and affect each other.
