Youth entrepreneurship is an important strategic resource for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. Modern youth is actively involved in the business sector, receives some support, but, along with this, faces some difficulties. Therefore, it seems important to study entrepreneurship in the context of these contexts. Based on 15 semi-formalized biographical interviews with young people living in the Tatarstan Republic, the main reasons for switching to entrepreneurship, motivation for choosing a field of activity, difficulties in the initial stages of doing business, social and personal resources of young people, assessment of institutional conditions and expectations of young entrepreneurs were identified.
