Educational Programme: Philology (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2020

The research concentrates on borrowings from the English language featured in Russian. It studies semantic and extralinguistic reasons for loaning words and features of their integration in Russian language. Being very controversial the issue of Anglicisms usage brings forward completely different opinions. Some linguists say that it is possible to remove the majority of English borrowings while others stand for saving them. By interviewing interpreters and translators the author of this paper reveals Anglicisms that are most frequently used in translation. The other aim of the research is to conduct a survey and find out their most widely used equivalents. The results of this paper may influence the theory and practice of translation.
