One of the defining factors of modern society is its variability, uncertainty, and "fluidity". Long-term planning can appear more and more challenging, which also affects the professional sphere, leading to the disintegration of the "stable" life path. Reconstructing conditions lead to new requirements, and the lack of stability results in the need to find the guarantees to remain in demand in the present-day labor market. Part of these requirements is the necessity of continuous learning throughout life. In addition to the practical skills required to perform the work, organizations are often asked to possess a set of personal characteristics that are relevant to the image and mission of the company. However, current sociological research on corporate training focuses primarily on the part that is aimed at acquiring work skills directly, without referring to other aspects. Based on 15 in-depth semi-structured interviews with employees of large corporations, this paper examines practices of designing employees' identity and distinguishes their main types. In addition, it reveals the perception of uncertainty in life planning, as well as how investments in own human capital relate to it, and the very motives that encourage participation in self-education practices.
