Stylometric analysis can be described as an application of statistical methods to analyze the stylistic features of an author or genre. The basis of stylometry is that each text has its own style, which can be either intentional or unintentional. Thus, the text becomes the object of stylometry. Various elements of the style are the subject of research. The study uses a body of texts consisting of 310 Russian short novels of the beginning of the 20th century. The analysis was made with help of stylometric package for R Stylo. It has a list of main functions which has a user-friendly interface and a number of more advanced functions implemented using code. The aim of the study is to conduct stylometric analysis of the case using the capabilities of the Stylo style package for R. Results confirm the hypothesis of stylistic differences of different time periods. It is supported by the results of contrast analysis and classification using machine learning methods.
