Processor design and assembly language are important topics that are essential part of computer engineering/science and some other major’s study plan. Understanding assembler and low-level programming techniques is important to create a comprehensive image of software development and operation regardless of programming language, operational system, or domain. The aim of this study is to reduce difficulty of learning assembly language using Higher Schools of Economics “Computer Systems and Computer Networks” course as basis by choosing the most beginner-friendly processor architecture and choosing and/or developing assisting software. To achieve this goal an overview and analysis of modern processor designs and their respective industrial usage assembly dialects and software tools have been conducted and an application with a functionality of simple code editor and assembler instructions dictionary. Existing course materials were edited accordingly to changes and a plan of migration has been developed. This paper is 47 pages long with 8 images and 12 citation sources.
