Magical Realism in Contemporary Ural Literature: Traditions and Transformations

This paper explores the phenomenon of Ural magical realism. Magical realism mode according to F. Moretti's theory of literary world-system helps minor national and regional literatures to be noticed. Sociocultural reasons of the phenomenon's appearance, its poetics, differentiating features, variety and successfulnes of mechanism's of the model used by modern Ural writers in creating regional identity and presentation of Ural literature to Russian and foreign readers are studied through the following novels: "2017" by O. Slavnikova, "Serdtse parmy" ("The Heart o Parma"), "Zoloto bunta" ("Gold of Rebellion") by A. Ivanov and "Petrovy v grippe i vokrug nego" ("The Petrovs in Flu and Around It") bu A. Salnikov.
