Use of Blockchain Technology in the Design of Enterprise Architecture

In the final qualifying work, the prospects of blockchain technology are considered in the context of its use in the design of enterprise architecture. The main focus of the work is on a deep studying of the prerequisites for the emergence of a new type of enterprises, the so-called Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO's). The paper analyzes the historical development of blockchain technology, separately notes the existing options for using this technology by global companies in various industries. Special attention is paid to identifying the advantages of using a similar paradigm for building corporate architecture by modern organizations based on the theory of company development based on transaction costs reducing transaction. The relevance of this work is dictated primarily by the recent appearance of the technology, which is based on the use of a distributed registry to create a database resistant to changes and hacks. Changes in the craft of information structures building which are necessary for the competent work of the enterprise, obviously, will be significant for a specialist in the field of business informatics. The aim of the study is to analyze the possibilities of using blockchain technology in the design of enterprise architecture. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: 1. To substantiate the problems and difficulties that arise in classical enterprises in the context of their rigid hierarchy of management (in contrast to Decentralized Autonomous Organizations). 2. To identify the benefits that the new business model has over conventional organizations. 3. To develop promising areas for using private blockchain technology in enterprises of a new type. 4. To analyze the structural features of organizations of a new type and to model an interaction between the subjects of the organization. 5. To identify those elements of enterprise architecture in which the implantation of private blockchain technology is most appropriate and relevant. 6. To propose the main patterns of technology application based on the cases examined, a description of one of the possible concepts for standardizing the process of analyzing a decentralized type enterprise. The object of the research is the architecture of a new type of enterprise. The subject of the study is the process of blockchain use in the development of a decentralized architecture. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is established by modern Russian and foreign scientific papers dedicated to the study of the use of blockchain technology in business. Economic-statistical, analytical research methods, comparative analysis methods were applied. The source base of the study was gathered by educational materials, relevant monographs and articles in periodicals on the topic of the study. The theoretical significance of the study is comprehended due to the need to develop the theory of enterprise architecture management in terms of modeling and solving the problem of using private blockchain technology. The results of the work have big practical significance for the enterprises of a new type, since some of the information and recommendations gained from the research can be used as a clear guide to action for further management of the enterprise architecture.
