Educational Programme: Information Science and Computation Technology (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

Despite the rapid digitalization and widespread use of digital measuring instruments in both manufacturing and the private sector, analog instruments continue to be widely used. Manual reading of measuring instruments is time-consuming and resource-intensive, also prone to errors due to the human factor and moreover, makes it impossible to receive the data remotely. The aim of this final qualification work is to develop a mobile software and hardware complex that automates the process of obtaining readings from analog pointer measuring instruments. During the work, the technical requirements for the system and its functionality were formed, a review and analysis of existing methods and technologies was carried out, methods for the implementation of this project were selected, the choice of technologies and tools used was justified. As a result, hardware and software were implemented, including recognition, transmission and visualization algorithms, and the architecture of the software and hardware complex was developed. During the experiment device layout was created, and its operation was tested. In the future, the energy efficiency of the system and the accuracy of recognition can be improved, the user interface can also be expanded. The volume of this work is 85 pages, including the title page, annotations, table of contents and appendices. The final qualification work contains 55 illustrations explaining the principles of the implemented methods and technologies used, as well as showing examples of the system, 2 tables of comparative analysis and 2 tables of technical characteristics. 30 sources of information were used in the work.
