Despite the fact that single-industry towns are not a Russian phenomenon only, the process of its formation in Russia has taken on a special scale as a consequence of the planned model of the economy. Towns where socio-economic processes highly depend on one particular industry are especially vulnerable to any economic shocks. Considering the fact that about 10% of the Russia population lives in such towns the development of effective government support measures is a very important goal. Since the modern model of support measures of single-industry towns in Russia has started not that long time ago, there are still a lot of problems and ways for improvement. The most significant steps in recent years - the launch of the The Integrated Development of Single-Industry Towns priority programme, as well as the creation of Foundation for Development of Single-Industry Towns – are very interesting to research. Thus, the goal of the research is to analyze the results of the Foundation for Development of Single-Industry Towns and define its place in the system of support measures of monotowns in Russia, suggesting recommendations for its further improvement.
