Factors of Successful Protection from Pressure on Business

Why some enterprises are able to minimize the damage received during the disputes involving state agents on the opposite side under context of unequal business – government power distribution and other are not? Using CPP “Business against corruption” database, Spark-Interfax database and data from Central Election Commission of Russian Federation exploratory research was conducted on factors, that may influence the chances of minimizing the damage received by the entrepreneur or the enterprise in such disputes. As a result, three logistic regression models for different damage threshold have been built. One more model was built to predict the long-term survival of the enterprise, regardless of the outcome of the dispute. Such approach allowed to reveal sets of indicators that influence the chances of "winning" regardless to the chosen threshold. As a result of the study, the number of recommendations that can increase the chances of business to survive in such disputes both in short and long run were formulated.
