Traditions of European Knowledge in 18th Century Russia: Astrological Treatise from F.I. Buslaev's Collection

Student: Ochkasova Ekaterina

Educational Programme: Philology (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2020

This graduation paper is dedicated to a unique manuscript monument of the XVIII century - an astrological manuscript from the collection of F.I. Buslaev. The special attitude to astrology as a false science for a long time did not allow for proper research, and therefore the corpus of Russian astrological texts is still poorly understood. This work “introduces” another previously unexplored manuscript into scientific circulation, makes an attempt to date it and determine the circle of astrological sources that are authoritative for the author or compiler of the 18th century. In addition, the importance of the European tradition for Russian science of the 18th century was shown by the example of this manuscript. As a continuation of this work, further publication of the manuscript prepared for publication is expected.
