The Psychological Basis of the Experience of Guilt About Myself

This final qualification paper presents the results of studying the experience of guilt about myself. The relevance of this research is to form an understanding of the psychological phenomenon of experiencing guilt about oneself, to identify its grounds, features of experience and influence on the human being and self-development of the individual. This study is aimed at a detailed examination of guilt in existential psychology, and the transfer of this knowledge to general psychological positions. The aim of the work was to reveal the theoretical and empirical psychological foundations of the experience of guilt about oneself, to determine the genesis and dynamics of this experience, based on the phenomenological analysis of semi-structured interview texts. The sample consisted of 12 people of different ages and education that had a vivid experience of guilt about themselves. Using phenomenological data analysis has been described an experience of guilt about oneself, the identified psychological grounds, the conditions of its origin, causes, and impact on the life of a person.
