Efficiency Analysis of Anti-Fraud Control Mechanisms: a Case-study of Banks of Eastern Europe

The research purpose is the analysis of the efficiency of anti-fraud control mechanisms in banking sector of Eastern Europe. The object of the research is East European banks. The key research objectives include: the analysis of the existing theory on the fraud phenomena; highlighting the economic positing of the East European banks; examination of their approaches to anti-fraud control mechanisms; identifying its specifics, similarities and differences among the countries; the report analysis on the search of existing evidence of their efficiency; the search of potential problem solutions, providing recommendations and possible implementations on the research topic. . The research hypotheses given in the introduction part have been proven by the results of the report analysis of East European banks: innovative leadership positively correlates with market domination; the degree of economic influence positively correlates with the degree of banks’ attention given to the research problem; the digitalization strategy causes the shifts in banks’ business models towards the AI implementations in the area of risk management. The research conclusion expresses the fact that the most effective anti-fraud control mechanisms in banking industry concern the combination of the correct organization structure and strategy of risk management departments, including the power of situational approach and importance of front-office integration, and the wide usage of information technologies, providing managers with the early identification and prevention of fraudulent activities. The final qualifying work is presented in 79 pages, contains 1 figure, 8 diagrams, 26 tables, the list of references of 47 sources, 2 appendices.
