Formation of a Project Portfolio with Respect to Strategic Risk on the Russian Grocery Retail Market

The grocery retail market is a huge collection of shops of various formats and it is necessary to be careful in the process of selecting projects. Moreover, the market is as close to consumers as possible, so the implementation of all projects is in parallel with a high degree of uncertainty. This, in turn, generates both opportunities and risks for projects. Retail today is the level of large IT-companies, so the formation of a portfolio of projects is one of the priority tasks for market players. The companies' focus is shifting towards three areas - strengthening current business, creating innovative competencies and forming a "retailer of the future". This work is dedicated to the development of methodology of project portfolio formation on the grocery retail market in the form of step-by-step instructions based on the analysis of existing economic, mathematical and expert analytical tools. Within the limits of research understanding of the account of risks at formation of a portfolio of projects will be generated. Various methods and approaches of project portfolio optimization and their formation are studied.
