The Influence of Top Management Human Capital on the Innovation Strategy in Russian Banks

Does the human capital of top-management affect innovations? What do we know about the possible impact on Russian banks? Despite the fact that this issue is quite acute, there is a limited number of studies on the impact of the human capital of company top-management on determining the course of innovation in the Russian and foreign scientific environment. The study explored innovative activity of Russian commercial banks for the period 2017-2019. This work was written in the form of a research case, which allowed to conduct a deeper study of the aspects of human capital and the achievements of financial institutions in innovations. There was developed the ranking of commercial banks in the retail segment and the four most and four least innovative banks were chosen. The key indicators of human capital of top management of eight selected banks were studied. The correlation between the various elements of the human capital of top management and the innovation strategies of commercial Russian banks is revealed. Specific features were highlighted for creating a portrait of management that affects innovation in the company. This will help investors in the emerging markets who want to understand the mechanisms for assessing the impact of the current management of financial companies on the future direction of their development.
