Elements of the Folklife Culture in the Soviet Literature and Cinema

Student: Stafeichev Anton

Supervisor: Leonid Bolshukhin

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities (Nizhny Novgorod)

Educational Programme: Philology (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2020

The idea of the work is to analyze the elements of the folklife culture in the Soviet cinema and literature. Insofar as the research is multidisciplinary, different methodologies from sociological and human sciences are used: philosophy, philology, sociology and social anthropology. In order to pay attention to all important previous works, both European, American (e.g. Peter Kenez) and Russian (e.g. Mikhail Agursky) researchers have been properly studied. Though the informative aspects of their works have been defined, several unstudied elements (lack of needed classification, literary analysis, interpretation etc.) were remarked. 3 stages of the work can be described now: uncovering and describing the traditional culture in the Soviet art; analysis of the perception of the industrial landscape; comparison with typically sentimentalist plots and conflicts. Key words: “soviet literature”, “cinema”, “folklife culture”, “industrial landscape”, “traditional costume”.
