The topic of the thesis is "Prosodic characteristics of false statements: An experimental study on the material of the Russian language". This work is devoted to the detection and study of prosodic means, which have an important role in detecting lies in utterances, as well as prosodic parameters of false utterances. The relevance of the study is justified by the fact that although a lie is necessary for human communication, there are not many analyzes that relate to it from a linguistic point of view. Therefore, this study adds a linguistic perspective to the study of lies. The work consists of the introduction, 3 chapters, conclusion, list of references, and applications. Chapters 1-2 are the theoretical part of the work. They outline individual aspects of prosody, syntax, semantics, and the pragmatics of lies. I associate these aspects with ongoing research on lies and deceit, with particular emphasis on the philosophy of language and psychology. Chapter 3 is the practical part of the work. It describes the experiment itself and the base on which I relied in the study. The following methods were used in the work: general analysis and synthesis method, general scientific deductive method, classification, complex analysis method, mathematical-statistical analysis, instrumental acoustic analysis. Based on the data obtained, it was revealed that prosodic means have an important role in detecting falsity in statements, and also note that in a state of stress and uncertainty in one’s own words, indicators vary greatly from the norm.
