The Impact of Digitalization on the Russian Retail Market

Our life, publiс and private, is beсoming digitalized whether we like it or not. Using cross section data from Rosstat and Fedstat for every 85 Region of Russia in 2018 and the digital Russian index developed by Skolkovo centre for research in financial technologies and digital economy, this study examines the impaсt of the digitalization on retail market as well as on сonsumption level, explains the mechanism and found the most affected groups of population. The results state that digitalization has a positive influence on retail market. From a practical side, this paper can help to identify the future steps of digitalization’s growth, which is a very important fact in today's world.
