This research work focuses on the analysis of the construction of the US, China and Russia in the Russian pro-governmental media discourse (using the economic conflict between the US and China as an example). The analysis was carried out on the basis of the texts collection "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" dedicated to the topic of study. In 2017, economic relations between the United States and China began to deteriorate due to the US trade deficit in relations with China (the level of the Chinese products' import to the United States were 3 times higher than the US exports to China). On March 22, 2018, US President Donald Trump signed tariffs memorandum against China's economic aggression, which included the establishment of tariffs on the import of Chinese goods into the United States. In addition, Trump accused China of stealing US intellectual property, referring to the results of an investigation by a US trade representative. On April 1, China retaliated by imposing response measures on a number of US goods. This “clash” of interests was called the “trade war” in the Russian press, the events of which are regularly discussed in the Russian media, especially in pro-governmental ones. The research aims to compare the speech means of representing the United States, China and Russia through the prism of critical discourse analysis by the method of quantitative and qualitative analysis using corpus technologies.
