At the current level of development of linguistics , as well as with the development of intercultural communication, the cultural aspects and different approaches to translation become particularly important. Because of the diversity of cultures, the translator of fiction faces the problem of overcoming the cultural and ethnic barrier between native speakers of the original language and the language of translation. Thus, for the translation of literary texts, the problem of transmitting the national-cultural specificity of the text is the most crucial. The relevance of this study follows from the need to study the problems of translation of literary text. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of translations of the novel "Rob Roy" by Walter Scott. To solve the main tasks of this work, it is necessary to use theoretical and empirical research methods: processing and analysis of scientific sources, descriptive method and comparative analysis method. The practical value of the work consists in the possibility of its application in translation theory and practice courses, as well as for comparing translations of various works.
