Effective benefits management helps organizations execute their strategies (APM, 2019), increases success rate of projects (Serra and Kunc, 2015). Benefits are generally considered as reasons why projects are undertaken (Axellos, 2017; APM, 2019). In spite of the evidence of some academic works and general acknowledgement of its effectiveness in helping organizations with their strategy execution through projects, implementation of Benefits management in many countries (Breese et al. 2015) and its empirical value Badewi (2016) have not been well researched. This work researched Benefits management in application and its perception in terms of effectiveness in the context of Uzbekistan, where project management received its boost in development recently. The results of the online questionnaire among 44 project, program and portfolio management professionals from Uzbekistan recruited through a search on LinkedIn platform suggested that approximately 83% of project-oriented organizations deploy the concept. In overall, Benefits management was rated as either “4 – very effective” or “5 – extremely effective by the two thirds of the eligible sample with the mean value for effectiveness being estimated at 3.86 out of 5. The two additional semi-structured interviews provided several more insights on Benefits management deployment in Uzbekistan. The application of the research methods allowed to find answers to the 5 Research Questions. At the end of the dissertation, possible topics for future research were suggested. The outcomes of the work can contribute to the Business and management studies in terms of new knowledge on the geographical spread of Benefits management in projects.
