News about the Russian and Habsburg Empires in the British Press (1762–1763): A Comparative Analysis

This work is dedicated to the study of how the British press in XVIII century approached the coverage of the events in foreign countries. To contribute the resolving this general question I expplore the coverage of the events in Habsburgs’ Austria and Russian Empire in 1762-1764several popular British newspapers and magazines. The object of my study is messages of several British periodicals about Russian and Austrian events during the period of 1762-1764. The subject of the study is topics of those messages, opinions represented in them concerning the events in given countries. The main aim of my paper is exposure of appraisals and views of the British press on the events connected with Russia and Habsburgs’ Austria for the period of 1762-1764, description of those views and opinions, and comparison of publication policy of the British press in coverage of Russian and Austrian news.
