The syntactic distribution of the Russian discourse particle eto

In this paper we have analyzed the syntactic status of the Russian discourse particle ETO in wh-questions, using a corpus study (in a wide sense). We have shown that the correct analysis distinguishes between the pronoun ETO (prepositive) and the focus-like particle ETO (postpositive).
