In 1990, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) was developed for convenient network monitoring and management. The first two versions of the protocol were not secure. For example, third-party authentication was performed using a password, transmitted in clear text. The protocol could not be used in public networks. This problem has been fixed in SNMP version 3. The standard describes security modules that establish highly configurable and secure messaging between network devices. The thesis contains: • security analysis of the latest version of the SNMP protocol. • description and implementation of the secure version of the protocol. Safety is checked according to the criteria of Russian standards and recommendations.
