Transformation of Natural Science Education for the Formation of Individual Educational and Career Paths of Students: the case of the Institute of Living Systems of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University

This work is devoted to the design and development of mechanisms for the formation of individual educational and career paths of students on the basis of the Institute of Living Systems of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, in particular - the modification of curriculum and the discipline «Design Thinking». A review of the literature on the theoretical foundations of the formation of individual educational paths is presented. Master's thesis describes the modification of natural science educational programs in order to form individual educational and career paths of students on the example of three educational programs: «Biology», «Chemistry» (bachelor degree courses) and «Bioengineering and bioinformatics» (specialist's degree). The results of the implementation of the first-year «core» discipline «Design Thinking», which develop flexible skills of students, such as teamwork, communication, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, problem solving, etc., are presented. The content of the discipline was adjusted in accordance with students' expectations. Key words: individual educational path, liberal arts and sciences, design thinking, curriculum, collaborative learning.
