Internal Migration, Academic Performance and the Position in the Labor Market of HSE Graduates

According to statistics, around 40% of students enter HSE from various regions of Russia every year. This paper analyzes the importance of moving to Moscow from another city on the starting salary of graduates of the HSE Moscow campus. This study is carry out on the information about the graduates 2016-2019 and trying to find the possible direct and indirect influence of the region at the time of admission to the university on the starting salary. The work uses the two-step least squares method and the Baron-Kenny approach. As a result of the analysis, no significant statistical relations were found between the origin of the graduates and their salaries.
