Farm Animals Legal Regime Issues in Russian Law

The use of animals and the scope of permissible treatment of them have recently become relevant topics in Russia. To be particular new laws aimed at developing the existing principle of humanity in the treatment of animals are being passed. In the field of russian agriculture a large share of all animals in the civil circulation of the Russian Federation is used. However this category of animals is not protected by law unlike domestic animals and some other categories of animals. This study identifies the essential features of the legal regime of farm animals in the Russian Federation based on the principle of humane treatment, its shortcomings and prospects for development.
