Investigative Techniques of Serial Homicide

The purposes of this study are to find out which theoretical and practical problems investigators face in detecting and investigating serial homicide, to propose ways to solve the problems found and eliminate errors made which can be made while taking a set of measures aimed at detecting and investigating serial murders detection and investigation, based on the practice of detecting and investigating serial homicide. In order to achieve the purposes of the study, the following tasks were set and solved: study of methodological recommendations for the identification and investigation of serial murders, proposed by various authors; comparison with practical investigation techniques; analysis of materials from criminal cases on serial murders in order to identify errors made during their investigation; identification of shortcomings and errors arising in the detection and investigation of serial murders based on the manuals and methodological recommendations for the investigation of serial murders, as well as the practice of their investigation. In the study, the difficulties and mistakes which can be made when performing identification and investigation activities detecting a homicide series and their investigation were identified, and possible ways of solving them were proposed.
