This research is devoted to the analysis of the labor market of graduates of higher and secondary vocational education of the Southern Federal District. In our study, we reveal the return on each of the levels of education (vocational education, bachelor, specialist, master, and graduate student). We used the data collected by RosTrud for monitoring the employment of the graduates. The data includes the graduates of 2019 whose start of the career belonged to a period of pandemic coronavirus infection. An important aspect of our work is to consider the Russian labor market by federal districts since each district has its own economic, climatic, and social characteristics. As a result of the study, we found that higher levels of education increase the likelihood of having a job and wages both in the Southern Federal District and in Russia. However, the difference in the return on education in the Southern Federal District is smaller than in other parts of Russia for any level of education except specialist’s degree.
