Factors Affecting the Stock Prices of Streaming Companies

In recent years, the streaming services market has experienced rapid development. Fortunately, it is currently possible to highlight several public companies, the main activity of which is streaming broadcasting. This study is devoted to identifying the factors that affect the stock prices of streaming companies. Based on quarterly data of eight streaming companies (Netflix, Spotify, SiriusXM, Tencent Music Entertainment, Huya, Joyy, BiliBili, iQiyi, DouYu) the impact of the financial statements of companies and the macroeconomic indicators of the countries of origin (USA and China) is considered. The data was collected from a database of Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters and an online resource Investing.com. Streaming is a method of continuous data transfer from the provider to the client, in which the content is located on a remote server. No download or installation are needed for playback – only internet access is required. Most services specialize in one of three areas: video broadcasting, music streaming or gaming online platforms.
