To attain the assigned objective of the research there have been displayed the impact of finishing university with honors compared to obtaining initial work experience during studies on the wage premium. The full sample of the Russian bachelor graduates compiles about 300,000 observations, while Far Eastern Federal District university bachelor graduates dataset contains approximately 12,000 observations. The given data was collected in 2020. The sample includes demographics, educational properties and work experience characteristics such as seniority, wages, the number of placement and etc. Analytics are carried out using descriptive statistics, linear regression analysis and Heckman marginal effects calculation. The outcomes of the final qualifying work reveal that school-to-work transition in Russia is more simplified for those bachelor graduates who receive their first work experience while studying at the university. In particular, results of the Far Eastern graduates differentiate from the Russian ones: premium for academic excellence demonstrates 11,5% increase in wages, while combining work and study turns out to be insignificant.
