Year of Graduation: 2021

In Russia, in 2018 the retirement age was increased. Due to the increase, it was necessary to undertake additional steps to protect pre-retirement people in the labor market. Almost two-month period between announcement and adoption of the criminal liability law created an opportunity for employers to dismiss pre-retirees. Using microdata from sample labor force surveys this study estimates changes in the rate of employment within the pre-retirees during the period between 2010 and 2019. The analysis was conducted using descriptive and regression analysis, including methods «regression discontinuity design» and «difference-in-differences». In the analysis there was not found any evidence of significant impact on the employment of pre-retirees by adoption of additional protection of pre-retirees.
