Modern Ways of Copyright Implementation on Artworks in Russia and France

The research focuses on various ways of copyright implementation on artworks in Russia and France. In the digital era copyright requires a special approach in regulation, that can meet present international standards. Thus, France has been chosen for a comparative analysis. This country has a rich history and developed legislation, which protects artists’ rights efficiently. The research centers around the main ways for artists to exercise their rights on artworks and for cultural institutions to make use of them. It includes inheritance, copyright contracts and collective rights management. The methodological basis consists of the doctrinal method and the comparative legal analysis, which allow the author to solve the tasks of the research. The goal of the research is to identify main common traits and differences in the regulation of copyright implementation on artworks in Russia and France. Moreover, the author suggests possible changes to the Russian legislation that would enhance the protection of artists’ rights and facilitate the turnover of artworks.
