Data is an essential part of our lives, and for journalists, there are no exceptions. So, Data Culture should be a significant part of learning in higher education journalism programs. But researches about this not many — I count no more than five pieces of research data culture in higher education (not focused on journalism). On the other hand, the definition „Data Culture“ is not so researched and often the case that the merging of the „data culture“ and „data literacy“ terms. In this research, I separate „Data Culture“ and „Data Literacy“ terms and explore how higher education journalism programs in Russia are taught data culture on RANEPA, MSU, SPbU, HSE cases. This research used comparative analysis, documentary analysis, systematization, classification, synthesis. As a result of this study, we will have definitions of Data Culture and Data Literacy, as well as data with my own analysis of educational curricula and curricula of academic disciplines on the topic of data culture. My research attempts to get rid of the conceptual polyphony of the „data culture“ and „data literacy“ terms; also the research will help to understand the problems of teaching data culture at journalism faculties in Russia.
