The paper is focused on studying and comparing real and desired income, their relation and common measures (specifically inequality measures based on Lorenz, Zenga and Davydov curves). It discusses the problem of data collection and distinguishes two types of data: crisp and ambiguous ones. As well as it draws attention to incorrectness of use the ambiguous data of income for a face value. The algorithm of overcoming this issue using fuzzy number theory is proposed. The inequality measures used for comparison are adapted to be calculated on the corrected data of income and applied to the data of desired and real income of households for all Russian regions. The fuzzy linear regression model is used to find the determinants of desired income using the Mincer equation.
