The popularity of the Internet among the population is growing every year. This has led to various concerns that its overuse can cause. At the macro level, this can affect such socio-economic factors as the standard of living, the structure of the population's income, the level of economic development of the state, etc. At the micro level, this can affect the individual's standard of living, income, social status, and health status. Despite extensive research into addictive goods, the study of Internet addiction has not been as actively pursued. The study of this phenomenon is of particular interest from both a research and scientific point of view. The paper studied and structured the main research of psychologists, sociologists and economists who investigated the phenomenon of Internet addiction. The paper presents a model that describes the economic behavior of an individual experiencing Internet addiction. This model can serve as a basis for further empirical research. The work analyzed the main consequences of Internet addiction, their impact on the economy and society. Even at this stage, the work can serve as a basis for developing recommendations for effective government regulation of the Internet services market.
