Environmental issues constitute a primordial concern for the international community since they play an essential role in the sustainable development of mankind. Furthermore, several states consider resolving environmental problems as an instrument of improving their image and status on international arena. Placing emphasis on environmental policy-making, France gives an example of an abovementioned state. One of the tasks of France's climate policy in the international arena remains to maintain a positive image of the state. At the same time, despite the fact that the solution of the climate problem is declared one of the priorities of French policy and appears in its long-term course, in practice, in international relations, France still adheres to a differentiated approach to solving global climate problems which depends on the partner country. Therefore, the influence of Macron's climate policy on French foreign policy remains understudied. The purpose of the paper is to determine the role of climate in French bilateral and multilateral diplomacy under the presidency of Emmanuel Macron. In order to fulfil this objective, comparative research design will be employed. The paper will be based on numerous sources which include primary data, notably, official documents, speeches of E. Macron and international organisations' records and can be found on open governmental and non-governmental resources (Élyssée, the Ministry for the Ecological and Solidary Transition, EU, UN, UNEP, etc). Qualitative methods including content, document, comparative analyses and case study will be used in order to examine the obtained data. Key words: ecology, environmental policy, environmental program, foreign policy, France, Emmanuel Macron
