Over the past decades, digital technologies have considerably transformed and enhanced millions of human’s lives, and it is clear that we are fundamentally linked with them. It is undoubtedly true that modern technologies have a positive impact on every aspect of our lives, making daily routine easier, faster, better and more convivial. Therefore, we can draw the tentative conclusion that technologies have affected museums as well. They are becoming not only a way to preserve cultural heritage but also a tool for its popularization and development of the museum business. Nowadays, contemporary man no longer perceives the museum in the conventional sense and prefers to get acquainted with the works of art in the multimedia space. Furthermore, modern technologies encourage museum visitors to investigate artefacts, immersing themselves in a world where they can feel like a researcher thereby providing an experience beyond the regular. As a result, museums adapt to the sophisticated visitor, thereby moving towards the process of digitalization. This paper will discuss how interactive technologies are used in museum exhibitions around the world and explore how these institutions design digital installations and use virtual media to enhance the immersive experience of visitors, promoting positive relationships with the audience. We will look at the relationship between technology and museums, and with the help of six main areas of development, we will learn how each of them affects human perception, immersion in the process and the view of the museum as a whole. The conclusion and reflections of this study are based on how the new era of technology increases physical, cognitive, and sensory accessibility and transforms the kind of experience for people with disabilities.
