Nowadays, the radicalization of Islam in France is one of the most relevant problems of the European Union because it is accompanied by the emergence and spread of extremist movements and terrorist attacks that directly affect the stability and security of EU countries. Islamist movements have a long history of formation in France. However, many reasons of this process, especially those that led to the murders in France in 2020, and their consequences remain unexplored. The country's colonial past and the migration crises that have occurred in the last 10 years have significantly influenced the development and spread of extremist movements. Moreover, the state's failed policy of integrating migrants and the resistance of some Muslims to assimilate and adopt local values and traditions have led to a tense situation both in France and in the countries of European Union. Therefore, this study seeks to fill the gap in the academic literature devoted to these events. The purpose of the proposed research project is to identify exactly what impact the radicalization of Islamist moods in France has on the stability and security of the European Union countries.
