Educational Programme: Economics: Research Programme (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2021

Special Economic Zones (SEZ) have proved to be an extremely efficient tool of industrial policies, however, their effectiveness in Russia is a subject for discussion. According to the Russian Federation's Ministry of Economic Development, SEZ are among the most ambitious projects to attract direct investment in priority economic activities. Nonetheless, not all experts believe that the work of special economic zones is sufficiently effective for the development of high-tech sectors of the economy, as well as the development and manufacture of new types of products. The research focuses on the spillover effects that result from increased participation of SEZ residents in the region's economic life, taking into considerations the SEZ located on the territory of Russian Federation. The study's aim is to recognize this impact in other businesses in the area and its future use as a measure for the success of a local special economic zone.
