The article presents the main theoretical approaches to understanding global value chains and analyzes their role in the global economy. In the era of globalization, effective integration into the GCC is considered a priority for any state. It is emphasized that modern global chains cannot be considered in isolation from developing countries. For example, the paper focuses on Brazil, which is particularly interested in changing its role in global value chains as its economy grows. Moreover, thanks to the economization of world politics, GCS can serve as an economic tool for promoting the foreign policy interests of the state. The results of the work demonstrate that global value chains have gained more attention of the Brazilian politicians over time and that there is indeed a governmental strategy towards strengthening the position of the country in them. The research is of extreme relevance to those who are interested in contemporary foreign politics and who study the significance of economy for modern political institutions.
